WHAT'S YOUR IMPOSSIBLE? FILM WORKSHOP
So, what’s your impossible—anyway? That was the question that environmental advocate and workshop teacher, Diego Gonzalez Joven, asked himself years ago, before he embarked on a 22,000 mile expedition from the North to the South Pole, without any mechanical assistance (only human and animal power). The University of Texas electrical engineering and film student and his blind friend, John Wimmer (and his guide dog Rasha) are soon to embark upon another of their “impossibles”, an expedition from Alaska to Mexico and a swim from Cancun to Key West, Fla. And, as they always do, they’ll be making a film about their adventures as they go.
In the four-hour filmmaking workshop that Diego Gonzalez will lead at AsoF, students will decide what their own impossibles are and then make a short film describing it. They’ll then be invited to post their films on the AsoF’s What’s Your Impossible website where the rest of the world will be able to log on and watch—share the dream. Bring your camera, if you have one, we’ll have extras available at the school.
Sat. May 16th for students 10-18
This is a free workshop. Please contact Monica Santis at monica@austinfilmschool.org to register or to find out more.
