ASoF 2009 Artist Salon and Screening Series Presents:
ALAN BERLINER

ASoF is delighted to be hosting Alan Berliner as a part of our Artist Salon & Screening Series on November 10th, 2009, at 7PM.

Alan Berliner's eclectic documentary films, WIDE AWAKE (2006), THE SWEETEST SOUND (2001), NOBODY'S BUSINESS (1996), INTIMATE STRANGER (1991), and THE FAMILY ALBUM (1986), have been broadcast all over the world, and received awards and prizes at many major international film festivals. Selected retrospectives of his films have been presented at the Museum of Modern Art (NYC), the International Center of Photography (NYC) and at film festivals all over the world. Several of his films are in the permanent collections of film societies, festivals, libraries, colleges and museums.

Berliner's idiosyncratic personal films tell his stories in a style both hilarious and deeply honest with a by-now readily recognizable cinematic style that draws heavily upon the incredible visual archive that Berliner has obsessively assembled over the years. The cinematic magic that Berliner wields as he edits his own films is something that he's able to articulate and make accessible to students and he's frequently brought in by university film studies and MFA programs, all over the world, to conduct master classes and workshops.

The Salon is FREE of charge and Mr. Berliner is encouraging the guests to bring in a sample of their work for personal feedback. - EVENT IS NOW FULL.
